Meanwhile, a chart displayed the consumption of grains and vegetables decreasing through the 1900s while the consumption of animal based products rose. Now I'm just a dumb college kid, but... the life expectancy has been on a constant rise since pretty much the dawn of time and according to the chart, animal product consumption has been on a constant rise. Any relationship? I think so. And at one point in my life I was determined to become a nutritionist and basically every expert I talked with on the subject agreed that a meat based diet is far healthier than the contrary diet. I'm not opposed to individuals choosing a vegan lifestyle, I'm just opposed to their arguments. I also hate feminists. What wastes of life...
This has been random thoughts with Dbollus.

I'm Voting for Scott Brown

Being a Republican from Massachusetts is a lot of work. Although I am a libertarian at heart, I belong to the Republican party because that is where I can hold the most power. The election tomorrow, I believe, is almost as significant as the last Presidential election. This congressional election can pretty much make or break the Obama presidency and it's current abuse of federal government spending and power. Up until just a few weeks ago, it was a no brainer that a democrat would be elected into the Massachusetts senate. This state is just too goddamn liberal to get it's head out of it's own ass, literally. But then the tide of this election changed to favor Scott Brown, and suddenly things became much more interesting. Now it's a race and it's one that Scott Brown is winning. Although Martha Coakley is everything that the current administration wants, she is her own worst enemy. Her entire campaign is going down in flames and she is extremely lucky that this election is tomorrow and not a couple weeks from now. Even with the support of Barack Obama, voters are finally seeing the true colors of this administration. The timing of this election is on her side, even though I believe that she will still lose, just not as badly as she could. But now onto why I am voting for Scott Brown over Martha Coakley. Holding mostly libertarian political views, I have been absolutely disgusted with the current administration and its blatant abuse of federal spending and power. It's been over a year and we are seeing no real progress with out economy due to the paralyzing bailouts and constant threat of government take over and regulation of portions of the private sector. A free market economy can only survive under marginal regulations and this administration has made matters much worse. We have seen this time and time again. The economy starts to fall and people panic, wanting something to be done about it, rather than awaiting the inevitable. This causes the economy to continue to fall, but at a slower pace, causing a slower recovery. We saw this with the FDR administration during the Great Depression, which needed 3 terms to "fix" the economy. And this is why I am voting for Scott Brown. Because I believe that the Federal Government does not reserve the right to impose a mandate on private goods and services at an individual level. And this is also explicitly stated in the Commerce Clause of the constitution. If we continue to let the federal government control more and more of our lives and impede our personal liberties we will fall into the same trap that many other countries have fallen into, and who have not been able to stand back up (France). Scott Brown holds the vote to filibuster the current Health Care reform bill and we need to do everything we can now to stop this unconstitutional abuse of power. Vote for Scott Brown on January 19th.

Passion Pit

Last night I witnessed one of the most fun and exciting live shows I've ever attended. Passion Pit played at the House of Blues in Boston, performing their poppy, upbeat, electronically fueled, and consistently inspiring tunes. Since the release last May of "Manners" I have been hooked pretty hard on this band. "Manners" easily became the album of the Summer, fitting into almost any summertime occasion. I had viewed many of their live shows on YouTube and I was a bit uneasy about how they would sound. Many of the videos I have seen had turned in sub par performances, mainly due to sound issues. It's hard to capture the full sound of a band like this where there is constantly the overlaying of synth and other electronics. But from the get go, I was blown away from the full, rich sounds coming from the band. Everything was there. But not only did the performance sound great, they made it entertaining to watch as well, constantly moving around and encouraging the crowd to sing along. The highlight of the performance was definitely the encore. Performing a cover of The Cranberries' "Dreams" and ending with what I believe is one of the top songs 2008/2009, however you want to date this song, Sleepyhead. Overall, this performance was a lot of fun. Solid performance and extremely entertaining. I am very excited to hear what these guys do in the coming years. I eagerly await a new album from these Cambridge dudes. If you haven't checked out this band, or have shied away after hearing the negative side of their reviews, please give them a listen. Their incredible amount of electronics on their tracks may be hard to swallow, but once it goes down, it is undoubtedly easy to digest. I expect big things from this band this year and beyond.

Passion Pit on MySpace

Fresh start...

Didn't keep track of this thing at all so I figured I might as well start again in the New Year.
